How to Deal With Baby Acne

Everyone envisions their child “popping out” with and maintaining perfect skin. Unfortunately, even babies develop acne. In fact, baby acne is one of the most commonly seen problems among babies. Do not worry! Baby acne is never a serious issue, and it needn’t concern you too much. It bothers you way more than it bothers your baby.

When babies are born, some of them may have small red or white bumps on their face. This is not baby acne. This condition is called milia. This milia does not stick around very long. Baby acne is not usually present from birth like milia is.

Baby acne usually occurs when the baby is around two weeks old. It may look like little white heads, or regular pimples with redness and swelling. The baby acne may appear on the face or back.

“But I thought only teenagers get acne!”

Well, acne usually occurs because of a hormone imbalance as well as oily skin. In infants, the hormones they were exposed to in the womb can cause this same reaction. However, take this information with a grain of salt as scientists still have not discovered the true, exact cause of acne for any age of sufferers.

Treatment?

There is actually no treatment for baby acne. They are not old enough to use the medications teenagers and adults use. And the baby acne disappears (usually) on its own within a few weeks.

There are a couple of things you can do as preventative measures. Sometimes, the acne is aggravated by using a harsh detergent. I use Dreft Powder Detergent but there are several other options for safe baby clothes cleaning out there.

In addition to laundry detergent, spit up can also lead to baby’s aggravated skin. Be sure to wipe your baby’s face with a damp cloth as soon as they spit up.

Do NOT fall into the trap of buying a product that promises to clear baby acne. These are a scam. Also, do not use home remedies such as creams or oil as they will harm the baby’s skin even more. If you feel your baby has a severe case, be sure to take baby to the doctor!

Mistakes You Make Buying a Jogging Stroller

Every parent wants to buy the best quality stroller for their new arrival.  Oftentimes, parents want this stroller to be top of the line, and allow them to go about their normal day to day activities.  One stroller that allows this functionality is a jogging stroller.  A well made jogging stroller will allow parents to get some exercise.  It also benefits the baby as they get to feel the cool fresh air whip past their face.  However, there are mistakes parents make when purchasing this type of stroller.

  •  Buying a cheap stroller thinking that it will work just as well.  It is only a bargain if it is made with quality materials and is reliable.  A good rule of thumb is that you should pay  a little more for a well known brand that has a good quality record.
  • Some like to place their baby in a carseat that attaches to the stroller.  I do not recommend this as they are finding it is bad for baby’s head shape to be left in an infant carrier for extended periods of time.  If you want this functionality, there are jogging strollers that offer a tool to adapt your stroller.
  • Your jogging stroller should have enough storage for what you plan to do and where you plan to go with your jogging stroller.  It should have a compartment that will hold a diaper bag or other diapering accessories.
  • A well known name brand is likely to be more sturdy and give you more bang for your buck.
  • Think about the future.  Do you actually go hiking a lot, or are you more of a mall rat?  Will the jogging stroller fit in your trunk?  (Some are quite large!)
  • Shop around for the best deal.  There are many online websites that offer free shipping and no sales tax.  If your state has sales tax, you can save a lot of money by shopping online.
  • Make sure the seat is not too small.  Your baby will soon grow into a toddler and you’ll want a stroller that will grow with them.
  • Do your research.  There are many websites that offer detailed descriptions of each brand of jogging stroller as well as in depth reviews.

After a lot of research I can recommend the BOB Ironman stroller, and any of the BOB brand.BOB Ironman stroller Yellow
